The recipe for business success needs to include some start-up financing, lots of hard work, heaps of heart, a sense of humour and for many young entrepreneurs a seasoned veteran in the wings.

The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) can provide at least two of those ingredients, the rest is up to aspiring entrepreneurs aged 18-39, who will have the opportunity to be inspired first-hand by the ups, downs and crazy adventures in becoming an entrepreneur by Yuk Yuk’s CEO/ Founder, Mark Breslin.

Breslin who is a serial-entrepreneur and serial-mentor says he can certainly relate to the sense of humour required, but doesn’t want people to make the same mistakes he did. Instead, he would encourage them to go forth and make new ones!

“Gee, if only they’d been around when I was getting started maybe I wouldn’t have been hoarding cash in a shoebox. Perhaps the first piece of advice I will give eager youth at the event is – get a bank account,” laughs Breslin. “In all seriousness though, the trifecta of support that CYBF provides – start-up financing, pre and post-launch coaching and mentorship – is an amazing resource for aspiring entrepreneurs. For those in the audience on Friday, I want them to first laugh at my pain because you have to have a sense humour, then I want them turn to the experts to ensure their journey is a little less, shall we say, adventurous.”

Breslin believes the mentorship part of the equation is key. The stats agree.

According to the organization, the mentorship program offerings are the reason for their 90%+ success rate which ranks much higher than the national average.

“Mentors provide tangible and sage business advice, as well as support and encouragement, to help young entrepreneurs through the excitement and realities of starting and sustaining a business,” commented Katarina Vasiljevic-Galic, Director, Alberta, Canadian Youth Business Foundation.

Breslin believes so much in the value of mentorship, that he will be providing a one-on-one mini-mentorship brunch the morning after the event. This opportunity will be drawn from among the event attendees.

Aspiring entrepreneurs can come meet Breslin and hear more about CYBF’s programs at the FREE event at on Friday, September 14th at 4:00 p.m at Yuk Yuk’s.
