OBJECT REVEALED! CANADIANS TO CREATE VALUE OUT OF THE COFFEE CUP!

National tournament launches, challenging Canadians to imagine, innovate and create

Toronto, ON, September 26, 2011 – Today the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) launched a challenge to Canadians to create value out of almost nothing at all. YOU Innovate Canada, a national tournament hosted by CYBF in celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), offers top innovators a share of $25,000 in cash awards generously provided by Studentawards.com and a trip to Liverpool, England to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Congress.

Today, following three weeks of buzz, the top-secret tournament object was revealed. Through Tuesday, Oct. 18, tournament participants (Canadians over 16 years) will be tasked with creating as much value as they can using the coffee cup as the raw material for their innovation. Fourteen regional champions in two categories (seven champions in the post-secondary category and seven in the community category) and one national champion will be chosen from across Canada through online public voting and by our expert judging panels. Awards will also be presented for the Most Innovative Post-Secondary Teacher in each region.

“YOU Innovate Canada is an exciting and challenging way for friends, students, colleagues and others to celebrate the creativity and imagination of entrepreneurs, celebrating the true spirit of Global Entrepreneurship Week,” says Vivian Prokop, chief executive officer of the Canadian Youth Business Foundation. “As official hosts of Global Entrepreneurship Week Canada through 2012, we at CYBF are thrilled to offer this tournament as part of the global efforts to celebrate the outstanding contribution of entrepreneurs creating jobs and wealth around the world.”

Suzanne Tyson is the President of Studentawards Inc., lead sponsor for YOU Innovate Canada. “Having the ability to think differently, be resourceful and create value for someone else is critical no matter what field you work in,” she explains. “YOU Innovate Canada challenges participants to do these things – and have fun at the same time! We are pleased to be working alongside CYBF to offer this incredible tournament to students and others across Canada.”

At the centre of YOU Innovate Canada is the notion that the spark of a great business idea comes from looking at an ordinary thing in an extraordinary way. In the spirit of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the tournament will challenge Canadians to think like entrepreneurs and will hopefully inspire them to consider entrepreneurship as an exciting and rewarding career choice.

Tournament champions are scheduled to be announced during Global Entrepreneurship Week, November 14 to 20, 2011. To register or to view tournament details, rules and regulations, please visit www.cybf.ca/youinnovate today.
