Reaping the rewards of a solid business plan and pitch

Futurpreneur | September 25, 2012

Five Spin Master Innovation Fund (SMIF) recipients were in Toronto recently to attend a two-day Innovation Launch Pad Workshop, which provided access to top-tier Spin Master executives and specially designed educational workshops and networking opportunities. Each of the young entrepreneurs were given thirty minutes with the ten different Spin Master executives, who gave valuable business advice in what can be called ‘speed mentoring’ for the day.

The workshop also included SMIF recipients from the previous year who engaged this year’s entrepreneurs in some peer-to-peer mentoring and skill set building, which focused on maximizing opportunities and managing time and resources effectively.

The 2012 recipients impressed the SMIF Selection Panel with professional presentations, polished business plans and, above all, their strength of character; qualities that will serve them well in the fast-paced world of innovation start-ups. In addition to the Launch Pad Workshop, these entrepreneurs will also have the opportunity to attend a specialized Acceleration Workshop in six months to reconnect with the Spin Master Innovation Fund peer group and Spin Master contacts.

Now although not every young entrepreneur who pitched at The Spin earlier this year was selected for the SMIF, we are happy to report that they will be receiving support through CYBF’s Start-up Program. For full details on the 2012 recipients, check out our press release.
