Spotlight on Advinor CPA ltd.: The West Coast CPA
Accounting is an essential and crucial aspect of every business. Unfortunately, entrepreneurs who are just starting out may not have all the knowledge, resources or capacity to manage their company’s finances themselves. That’s where experts like Aseem Ghadiali come in.
Aseem founded Advinor CPA Ltd, last February to bring accounting services to clients from all walks of life. Advinor is a full-service Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) firm that services individuals, small business owners, private and public corporations. It also provides pay-as-you-go Chief Financial Officer service to small businesses that would not normally require an everyday CFO.
Entrepreneurs all have their own unique reasons and motivations to start their business. For Aseem, it was a quote by Mother Theresa that inspired him to start his own firm – “In this life, we cannot always do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” Aseem says this quote inspires him every single day to do great work, whether it be making his bed in the morning or executing a complex tax plan for a multi-million dollar corporation.
“Starting my own business gave me the authority and freedom to build a world around me for the values that define true happiness in my life,” says Aseem.
Advinor has been in business for less than a year and the team has already achieved some major accomplishments. In its first two months, the company was able to provide free tax preparation services to Syrian refugees who have newly settled in the country. Within their first six months, they repaid two loans that helped launch the company, all while maintaining the business’ cash flow after operating costs.
Nevertheless, despite their early success, the business has had its share of obstacles.
“The biggest hurdle was to assess the right amount of set-up time and investment needed to start and operate a successful business,” says Aseem. Being a CPA himself, he says his finance and budgeting knowledge came in handy. However, his Futurpreneur mentor Rick Sim, provided the much-needed expert advice on where he should be spending his money and how to prioritize.
“The advice and value of an experienced business person, who has already walked along your roads, is worth gold,” says Aseem. “Rick is not only a mentor, but a great support system.”
When launching, Aseem only looked to Futurpreneur for financing. While he did receive the funding he needed, he received much more.
“Futurpreneur fills the gap in every aspect of help needed to a new entrepreneur. It amazes me how one single organization can provide such multi-dimensional services to entrepreneurs.”
We asked Aseem what his advice was to aspiring entrepreneurs and this is what he had to say: “There will be a point when you will feel like nothing is working. The truth is every successful entrepreneur has faced this situation. Just be gritty and keep doing what needs to be done every single day and success will surprise you.”
