September 26, 2012

HALIFAX – Today, the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) announced the launch of the second round of the High Fliers program designed to help young entrepreneurs take their businesses to the next level.

Through High Fliers, each entrepreneur will take advantage of CYBF’s world renowned mentoring program as they are paired with a seasoned business leader to help them further their business goals.  Additionally, each will take part in five different workshops and seminars throughout the duration of the program. Each is designed to help build specialized knowledge/skills that further advance their growth goals and provide the opportunity for participants to network and learn from each other and reflect on and share their experiences.

High Fliers will be accepting submissions from entrepreneurs aged 18-39 until October 22, 2012.   For a list of eligibility criteria and to learn more about the application process, visit www.cybf.ca/highfliers.  Ten ambitious entrepreneurs from Nova Scotia will be selected to participate in the program.

“CYBF is proud to, through its second round of High Fliers, lead a program designed to support young entrepreneurs in Nova Scotia reach their goals of business growth.  We are witnessing a real excitement from entrepreneurs in the “innovative” space that have proven they are well poised for growth.” says Nicole Osmond, Director for CYBF in Atlantic Canada. “Through initiatives such as High Fliers, entrepreneurs will gain access to an even greater level of support, through mentorship and peer learning opportunities that are both timely and relevant.  It being Atlantic Innovation Week, there couldn’t be a more perfect time to launch High Fliers, the innovative spirit is very strong.“

The program’s pilot was offered last year and there were many success stories including Milan Vrekic of TitanFile who has since opened a second office in Waterloo and has received venture capital financing from Innovacorp. “The High Fliers program connected me to ambitious entrepreneurs from our community that I have formed strong friendships since,” says Milan. “The program helped us understand how to step back from the daily hustle and take a good look at the larger picture at hand.”
