Vote for the CYBF supported entrepreneurs in the international Entrepreneur of the Year People’s Choice Award
Toronto, ON, October 11, 2011 – The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) is pleased to announce that CYBF-supported young entrepreneurs Axel Arvizu and Juan Roman are competing for the worldwide People’s Choice award as part of The Prince’s Youth Business International (YBI) Entrepreneur of the Year competition.
YBI’s Entrepreneur of the Year competition is an internationally-recognized annual event which highlights and celebrates the achievements of young entrepreneurs from around the world. Every entrepreneur that is shortlisted for YBI’s Entrepreneur of the Year award is eligible for the People’s Choice award as well. CYBF is a leading member of YBI.
People around the world are encouraged to vote for their favourite entrepreneur in the People’s Choice award. Online voting runs from the October 10th to 17th, 2011 and is available through the Entrepreneur of the Year website, http://awards.youthbusiness.org/the-peoples-choice/. Last year, over 17,000 votes were cast and the winning entrepreneur gained significant exposure for their business.

Mexican Canadian entrepreneurs Axel Arvizu and Juan Roman set up La Tortilleria, a manufacturer, wholesaler and distributor of freshly made preservative free and low fat tortillas and tortilla products (nachos, tacos) for retail sale to the public, and wholesale to the business sector. The business is unique and the first of its kind in the Canadian market. La Tortilleria has expanded to five restaurants in Toronto, one distribution centre and employs 35 employees.
The winner of the Entrepreneur of the Year award and the People’s Choice award will be announced in November in London, England. Axel, Juan and the other finalists will travel to England for the announcements.

Founded in 2000 by HRH The Prince of Wales, Youth Business International (YBI) is a global network of independent non-profit initiatives helping young people start and grow their own business and create employment. The YBI Entrepreneur of the Year competition is one of the leading global competitions for young entrepreneurs.
