Announcing The Most Entrepreneurial Canadian City 2014
We are thrilled to announce that after a very tight race, Vancouver has earned the title of Most Entrepreneurial Canadian City for 2014 based on the number of events hosted during Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2014. This city set an impressive record by hosting 85 events during GEW and an additional 29 events in the surrounding weeks!
CONGRATULATIONS to all of the amazing partners who hosted and promoted events to support entrepreneurship in Vancouver. It is thanks to your hard work that Canada is seen as a leader in the global entrepreneurial ecosystem, a position that is supported by a recent report released during GEW by the Global Entrepreneurship Development Institute. This report ranked Canada in second place amongst 130 countries in entrepreneurial performance. We have no doubt that if more and more Canadian cities can coordinate and come together to support and celebrate entrepreneurs, we will see our global reputation continue to build.
We would be remiss not to mention the supreme efforts this year from our runner up and two time winner, Ottawa who hosted 79 events last week (plus an additional 6 in the surrounding weeks). This city truly embodied the spirit of GEW by coordinating partners from all sectors to band together as one force in support of entrepreneurship. Special mention must also be made for Toronto and Montreal who emerged as leaders this year as well.
As the official host of GEW Canada, Futurpreneur Canada wishes to thank not just the partners in these cities but those from across Canada as well who joined the celebrations this year. Canada hosted a record number of events in 2014 and made some serious noise that did not go unnoticed on the global stage.
We look forward to celebrating with you all again in 2015 and thank you for your continued support of Canadian entrepreneurs!
