Ceo transition – a message from julia deans

After more than five great years as CEO, I have left Futurpreneur Canada to become founding CEO of the new Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation. A Board-led search is underway to recruit Futurpreneur Canada’s next CEO (click here for details).

I am so proud of how Futurpreneur is boosting young people’s entrepreneurial success across Canada. More than 10,000 young people have now launched businesses through our Start-up program – over 40 per cent of them women! The conditions are ripe for Futurpreneur to move to the next stage, and it is also time for me to move to the next stage of my career and allow a new leader to come and take Futurpreneur forward.

Futurpreneur is perfectly-positioned to expand its role as Canada’s anchor program for helping young people build the entrepreneurial skills and mindsets our future economy will demand. Thanks to our strong board and team and a tremendous network of Canadian and global partners, Futurpreneur has increased the number of start-ups we support by over 70 per cent, rebranded and significantly raised our Canadian and global reputation, secured record amounts of support for young entrepreneurs, and launched Action Entrepreneurship, FuturForums and other Canada-wide events to create broad consensus and action to grow entrepreneurship.

One of the very best things about this role has been working with some of our country’s most inspiring and talented people. Happily, I will continue to connect young people to the resources and opportunities they need as a fan of Futurpreneur Canada and in my coming role at the Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation, a new charitable foundation seeking to make Canadian children the most literate in the world.
