Canadian delegation departs for G20 Young Entrepreneur Summit
CANADIAN DELEGATION DEPARTS FOR G20 YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR SUMMIT
Thirty-one young entrepreneurs to travel to Nice, France to propose sustainable economic growth solutions to G20 leaders
October 27, 2011 – Toronto, ON – Today, 31 young Canadian entrepreneurs from British Columbia to Nova Scotia are preparing to depart for Nice, France where they will form the official Canadian delegation at the G20 Young Entrepreneur Summit (G20 YES).
The dynamic young leaders were selected by the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) earlier this summer to participate in the G20 YES, an annual international summit of dedicated and influential entrepreneurs of the G20 countries. The global delegates will then work together to identify ways that government and business communities can best harness the potential of young entrepreneurs. The summit runs between October 30 and November 2, 2011.
“I’m extraordinarily proud to have assembled this world-class group who best represent the driven, resourceful and innovative nature of Canadian entrepreneurs,” says Vivian Prokop, chief executive officer of the Canadian Youth Business Foundation and founding chair of the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance (G20 YEA). “The caliber of talent is a true reflection of the stellar entrepreneurial ecosystem that has been cultivated in Canada through our collaborative network of partners and, which has been applauded worldwide.”
The strength of Canada’s entrepreneurial ecosystem was specifically identified in a recent research study conducted by McKinsey & Company and echoed this week in another report, “Entrepreneurs Speak Out: A call to action for G20 governments” a barometer that examines entrepreneurship across the G20 economies and issued by Ernst & Young, applauds Canada’s efficiency and encouragement of an entrepreneurial culture. Both studies were commissioned by the G20 YEA to provide a base for discussion and the advancement of entrepreneurial endeavors within the G20 nations.
CYBF hosted the inaugural G20 YES in June 2010, where the primary outcome was the formation of the G20 YEA, an international network of like-minded organizations supporting youth entrepreneurship.
