Celebrate the value of mentoring – building confidence, competence, connections and community
Futurpreneur Canada™ welcomes National Volunteer Week with Vivian Prokop Mirchandani Mentorship Award
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TORONTO, CANADA – APRIL 16TH, 2018 – To kick off National Volunteer Week 2018 (#NVW2018), Futurpreneur Canada would like to take the time to recognize, thank and honour, our 3,000 volunteer mentors (#FuturMentor). These individuals devote their time to support youth entrepreneurs as they go through the transition of owning and operating a new business.
With nearly 12.7 million volunteers across our nation, our Futurpreneur mentors have played a key role in supporting over 10,000 entrepreneurs who have launched their businesses with Futurpreneur Canada. We recognize the value and commitment it takes to maintain a strong mentoring relationship.
It is in that recognition that we want to honour the legacy of Vivian Prokop Mirchandani, former CEO of the Canadian Youth Business Foundation, now Futurpreneur Canada.
Futurpreneur Canada Vivian Prokop Mirchandani Mentorship Award
As a champion of Canadian youth entrepreneurs and mentorship, Vivian once said “The world is full of possibilities for those who have the drive, the dedication and the vision to make them a reality.”
Futurpreneur Canada wishes to celebrate Vivian’s commitment to helping young entrepreneurs start and grow businesses through an annual award. This award will be presented to a Futurpreneur mentor who is making notable contributions towards the success of their entrepreneur mentee(s).
During her prosperous tenure as CEO at CYBF, Vivian sought wise counsel from many sources ranging from young entrepreneurs to international notables, including, but not limited to, former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales. Futurpreneur Canada would like to honour Vivian’s commitment to seeking wise counsel by launching the Annual Vivian Prokop Mirchandani Mentorship Award – “The Vivian” – in 2018.
One mentor award winner will be chosen from amongst a group of regional finalists each year. All finalists will receive honourable mention and a stipend for professional development opportunities to strengthen their business and mentoring skills. An online nomination process with finalists to be selected by a Futurpreneur judging panel. The winner will be chosen by a combination of judges’ scores and public voting.
Understanding that entrepreneurs never work – or succeed – alone, is why mentorship is so important. By providing the benefit of their knowledge and experience to young entrepreneurs, mentors help them to expand their personal horizons.
