CYBF Honours Bruce Poon Tip With Entrepreneurial Trailblazer Award
G Adventures founder recognized for forging new ground in Canada
Toronto, ON, November 10, 2011 – The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) is pleased to announce that Bruce Poon Tip, founder of G Adventures in Toronto, Ontario will be honoured with the CYBF Entrepreneur Trailblazer Award.
Presented as part of the CYBF Chairman’s Awards, the CYBF Entrepreneur Trailblazer Award recognizes entrepreneurial front-runners that forge new ground through innovative business models and make a significant impression both nationally and internationally. Additionally, recipients are passionate philanthropists who make a measurable difference in Canada or abroad.
“Mr. Poon Tip has proven himself to be an innovative, dedicated and creative leader in the adventure travel industry,” said Vivian Prokop, chief executive officer for the Canadian Youth Business Foundation. “Over the last 21 years, he has grown G Adventures into a hugely successful company with a solid reputation for social and environmental responsibility. Plus, his passion for sustainability and philanthropy were the drivers behind the Planeterra Foundation which he founded in 2003. CYBF is pleased to recognize the outstanding contribution that Bruce has made in the entrepreneurship community in Canada by creating jobs and inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.”
In response to receiving this award, Bruce said, “I’m incredibly honoured to receive the CYBF Entrepreneurial Trailblazer Award. To be recognized as one of Canada’s entrepreneurial leaders is a testament to G Adventures’ unique business model and organizational culture, our commitment to sustainable tourism and offering an innovative, life-changing product.”
Mr. Poon Tip will be recognized at the Year of the Entrepreneur “Spotlight on Entrepreneurs” celebration event on November 17, 2011 in Toronto, Ontario. The event will be hosted by CYBF and the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses (CFIB).
