Newfoundland and Labrador Declare Year of the Entrepreneur

St. John’s, NL, September 6, 2011 – Today, the province of Newfoundland and Labrador emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship by proclaiming 2011 the Year of the Entrepreneur. With backing from the Canada Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), the Government of Canada officially designated 2011 the Year of the Entrepreneur to honour and applaud the ambition, devotion and spirit of entrepreneurs of all ages. Newfoundland and Labrador is now the seventh province to follow suit.

The Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister, Industry, Trade and Rural Development with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador signed the proclamation in St. John’s alongside representatives from CFIB.

”The Canadian Youth Business Foundation is so pleased that the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is recognizing the important contribution of entrepreneurs by declaring 2011 The Year of the Entrepreneur,” said Vivian Prokop, chief executive officer of CYBF. “By creating jobs for themselves and for others and by continuing to innovate and motivate, entrepreneurs are the driving force of economic prosperity for the province and the country.”
