CFIB, CYBF and Small Business Minister celebrate with Canada’s entrepreneurs
Toronto, November 17, 2011 – Tonight the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) will be celebrating entrepreneurs and the Year of the Entrepreneur with a special event in Toronto. The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism) will be speaking at the event and presenting awards to three outstanding Canadian business leaders.
Taking place during Global Entrepreneurship Week and with the federal government’s designation of 2011 as the Year of the Entrepreneur, this event further spotlights and highlights the great contributions small- and medium-sized businesses make to Canada. “They are the driving force of this country and indeed the global economy. Entrepreneurs are what keep communities vibrant,” said Vivian Prokop, president and CEO of CYBF.
“This evening will be a great opportunity to not only recognize, but to thank all past, present and future entrepreneurs whose innovations and contributions to Canada have truly restored hope, jobs and stability despite a slow and fragile economy,” said Catherine Swift, CFIB president and CEO.
“Our government recognizes and values the power of the Canadian entrepreneurs who drive our economy forward. It is for this reason we designated 2011 the Year of the Entrepreneur,” said Minister of State Bernier. “Congratulations to all of the award winners being celebrated as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. Entrepreneurs hold the keys to Canada’s future economic success.”
The Spotlight on Entrepreneurs event would not be possible without the support of the following valued sponsors and partners: Scotiabank Small Business, National Post, Chase Paymentech, BDC and KPMG Enterprise.
