The Centre de transfert d’entreprise du Québec and Futurpreneur join forces for the next generation of business buyers

November 9, 2023

Nov. 9 2023 — The Centre de transfert d’entreprise du Québec (CTEQ) is delighted to announce a new partnership with Futurpreneur. Young entrepreneurs often face additional challenges, such as access to financing and lack of experience. This agreement between the two organizations will decrease these barriers by offering financing, mentoring, training and consulting services to aspiring business owners aged 18–39.

FOSTERING THE POTENTIAL OF YOUNG BUSINESS BUYERS

In Quebec alone, 34,000 entrepreneurs have expressed their intention to transfer their business ownership between 2020 and 2025. At the same time, 26.6% of young people intending to set up their own business said they would prefer to take over a business. Given this wave of transfers, it is essential to capitalize on the potential of young entrepreneurs, with a focus on specific regions and supporting for diversity and inclusion initiatives. As a leader in the field, CTEQ’s expertise in business transfers will be put to good use in guiding young entrepreneurs and offering them the best chance of making their transfer, acquisition and succession projects successful.

FINANCING AND MENTORING AND INITIATIVES FOR BUSINESS ACQUISITION

In addition to greater sharing of existing resources and best practices, a new bilateral initiative will be launched, called “Cap sur ma reprise.” The initiative will include a series of events, training and online resources. In addition, Futurpreneur will provide eligible young entrepreneurs with up to $20,000 in financing, along with mentorship opportunities. This partnership builds upon the joint work already undertaken by the two organizations. Futurpreneur participates in various CTEQ initiatives, such as the Table nationale du repreneuriat and the Semaine nationale du repreneuriat.

“CTEQ offers entrepreneurs, throughout Quebec, a solution for selling and purchasing businesses that is unique in Canada. By combining our strengths with those of Futurpreneur, we’ll be able to provide young entrepreneurs interested in business acquisition with the tools they need to capitalize on the immense potential of business transfers in order to ensure the long-term future of our economy,” says Alexandre Ollive, CEO of CTEQ.

“Futurpreneur has a broad network of young entrepreneurs that could contribute to the development of business acquisitions in Quebec. We want to enhance this network and provide even more support as part of a greater collaboration between Futurpreneur and CTEQ,” adds Maryse Gingras, Futurpreneur’s Vice-President, Business Development.
